Communion means community and celebrates an important step in our development and independence. The support we receive is expressed in the form of the intricate winged hearts that appear on the medal.

The Christogram design in the centre of the medal was taken from a 17th-century design. IHS are first three letters of the Greek word for Jesus: I H ∑ O Y ∑.
