Since 10 October 1989, the day the Vienna Philharmonic bullion coin first appeared in the marketplace, we have remained true to ourselves in terms of the coin’s design.
Crafted with special precision, the award-winning motif has remained the same since the very first edition, with only the year of issue changing. One side of the coin depicts a harmonious collection of musical instruments from the world-famous Vienna Philharmonic orchestra – a Vienna horn, a bassoon and a harp, with a cello in the centre and a viola and violin on either side.
The other side features the organ of the Musikverein concert hall, the orchestra’s home.
