Hundertwasser's groundbreaking ecological commitment and his dedication to a more human architecture in harmony with nature developed from his belief in the power of nature and individual creativity. He disseminated his criticisms of civilisation and his ecological views in manifestos, writings and action in which he disapproved of the pure functionality of all areas of life, the unrestrained doctrine of growth and adaptation to social conformism.
