The chance rediscovery of long-forgotten masterpieces in the Austrian Mint’s historical medal collection led to these wonderful historical motifs being woken from their slumber with a stylish and sensual kiss. Lovingly transformed into jewellery, they are enjoying a renaissance in gold and silver. The combination of their intricate motifs and superb design by Vienna’s prestigious Dorotheum Jewellers makes them unique historical treasures with a contemporary twist.
The second edition of our successful Kissed Awake jewellery collection explores Jugendstil. The Viennese variation of art nouveau, Jugendstil was the highly decorative turn-of-the-20th-century artistic style that left a magical imprint on the architecture of the Austrian capital. Found in the archives of the Austrian Museum of Applied Arts, two designs by Koloman Moser (1868–1918) − one of the leaders and co-founders of the progressive Vienna Secession art movement − are the blueprints for the new collection’s sublime motifs.
